One of my favorite things to do is to help others!! I help my friends and family with their writing and editing whenever I can. I recently have been helping them create or revamp their resumes. Below, you can find a few examples!
Kristina
Kristina was looking for a very specific position at a specific company, so I focused in general on making the content on the resume cater specifically to that position. She came into the game having a good backbone of the resume and a good idea of what to include. You can see her original on the left below.
From here, I helped her brainstorm experiences to add and highlight. We worked on her LinkedIn profile a little as well to be a secondary resource. Beyond that, I tried to make a design that would both fit her personality and align with the position she was interested in pursuing.

Where she is now
Kristina got the job! She became a vital member of their team and quickly took on and maintained a leadership role. Since then, she’s gone on to college (studying to be a pilot!), but when she’s home and on break, she returns to this job. In fact, they recently offered her another position with even more responsibility to help them open up a new store. They are working around her schedule and even will compensate for her transportation costs.
Matthew
Matthew had just graduated college and was on the hunt for jobs. He was looking for engineering positions, so his layout of his old resume, though a little boring, was not uncommon. However, after looking through examples of engineering resumes, I decided that it would not be uncommon or bad to use a different resume layout. This decision was especially influenced by the fact that Matthew was considering applying to positions outside of engineering as well.
Since he hadn’t had that many relevant experiences, the resume placed greater influences on his engineering projects, leadership activities, coursework, and skills. Furthermore, OSU is a community that stretches far and wide; I included a focus on that in case it would catch the eye of a recruiter who was also an OSU alumni.

Where he is now
Matthew got a wonderful in a chemical lab, starting out in a contracting role and quickly being offered a full-time position. He is now an Associate Process Chemist, on track to gain more supervisory and management responsibilities in the next couple years.
Rayne
Rayne was in her senior year of college and wanted to set up a resume. She plans on going into graphic design and photography, but does not have a specific place or position in mind. She has lots of great experience and knowledge in her field, but this not all reflected in her old resume (which had been used for a teaching position)!
The second resume focused on her wealth of experience and knowledge in graphic design and photography. Furthermore, it highlighted social media where recruiters could easily see her work and witness her skill. (It is still a work in progress, as you can see by the sections at the bottom!)

Ginger
Ginger was a long-time teacher that was looking to get back into the full-time game. She had a huge amount of experience, knowledge, and qualifications, as you can see listed in her old resume. However, after listing those all, there wasn’t enough space for her to explain specific responsibilities and skills that went along with each experience.
Ginger was one of the most engaged people I’ve worked with on her resume, and that was both a challenge and a huge blessing! The resume included content that she knew was important for the field, which I just didn’t have enough expertise in teaching to know.

Where she is now
After decades of searching, Ginger got her dream job teaching science, English, and more to high school students. She’s never bored and gets to teach different subjects each year, design her own curriculum, and work in an environment that celebrates learning and individual students (something which she values greatly).
